Welcome! My name is TheSoftwareAmateur!
Here’s the kicker, my name is a bit of a misnomer. I am not truly an amateur, as I have a decent amount of experience with programming and software due to having a B.S. in Computer Science and working as a Software Engineer for 2 years now.
However, ever since the introduction of ChatGPT and the rise of AI models within the last several years, I have begun to rely more and more on AI for coding and not truly thinking about what I am doing and most importantly, how I am doing it.
This blog will serve two purposes – firstly, it will be a method to hold myself accountable and to re-learn programming both for my own personal projects, and for game development in the Godot Game Engine, and secondly, it will be to show others that even as AI becomes more and more prevalent, it is possible to not rely on it, and to actually learn.
My journey is not just about programming; it’s about problem-solving, and un-teaching myself and others about relying on AI. If you have ever thought, “I’ve become dumber since AI has gotten better”, or anything like that, you are welcome here, and even if you haven’t, then you are still welcome here.
Every project I undertake is a step towards re-learning my craft. I hope to show others it is possible to stop relying on AI for code, and to truly think once again about how they are doing what they are doing.
